There have been many thoughts swirling through my {weary} brain about what I could possibly write on our blog, but I just keep coming to the fact that more than anything at this moment Trace and I would really appreciate your prayers on a few specific topics:
1. The uncertainty with the Ethiopia adoption process is far from settled. After the announcement last week that the ministry in Ethiopia that essentially approves the adoption cases could be slowing down by up to 90% (adding as much as ONE YEAR to the adoption process of a child) there was much uproar. The US Department of State and many other organizations are taking action to intervene and help come up with different solutions to investigate and root out corruption without causing children to stay in orphanages so much longer. As of last Friday there was talk that instead of slowing down the process by 90% it could just slow down by 60%...UGH- that is still SO LONG!!! Talks and meetings are ongoing (there was one scheduled for today) to come up with a better plan of action. This is a complex issue and I'm just sharing the tip of the iceberg, but please pray that a solution is found to stop the corruption that does not include a drastic slow down of the process so the children can be out of orphanages and with their forever families!
2. I mentioned this in our last post- but we DO realize this potential hurdle in our adoption is not directed at, or "about" us, however is does FEEL very personal. There are all sorts of things swirling around in our heads, but we working to choose joy even in the midst of our situation. Please pray for Trace and I that the Lord will help us to trust Him in the midst of another "bumpy" part of our adoption process.
3. We have not talked much about the finances needed for our international adoption and that is largely because we have been SO blessed, and what we needed has come in before it was due and we have never had to delay a step because of money! While we do not have everything we need yet, we've had money come in from 3 yard sales (and have another one planned in a month!) an iPod raffle, a litter of puppies we raised and sold (to wonderful homes :) and generous gifts from many families. WOW- seriously, this is a miracle! So, why are we asking you to pray? Well, we have/ are in the process of applying for a few grants, and we heard some news on the first one today. We were not chosen this month to receive a grant (bummer) BUT we are going to submitted for consideration again next month, so there is still a chance! Please pray that there are funds available next month for many families- INCLUDING US- to be chosen to receive a grant from Show Hope!
On a closing note- we really are so grateful for those that are "doing life" with us. It isn't always pretty and last week was an emotional roller coaster to be sure. International adoption is an adventure (those of us that like structure and plans can get our worlds rocked!) but thankfully there is grace to help us through. My friend Anna said it best this week "adoption is not for the faint of heart!" and while I agree, I also think that if I (Randee) can do this, most others can too. The key is to know whether you are supposed to, and then you will be willing to do whatever it takes to bring the child(ren) that God has chosen into your family. Knowing that this is our path we will keep praying and keep taking the necessary steps to move forward, but we appreciate your prayers as you walk with us.
Been thinking about you lots on this topic....lifting you up and those precious little ones across the water....praying for His new mercies each day...
